This is one of my favourite books of all time. This was my second time reading it--I hadn't remembered all of the details, which added to the suspense, but even if I had, I don't think my enjoyment would have been lessened at all. The writing is so rich, the translation so detailed, the language so exquisite. I should be happy to be a tenth of the writer this man is!

Outstanding! If I could give this book a standing ovation, I would. Achingly sad throughout, this book is by times a difficult read--particularly the parts about losing children--but it is such a compelling read that I had real difficulty putting it down. I found myself wishing it was longer; I didn't want it to end!
