As a Canadian girl growing up in the '80's, I naturally was obsessed with the Kennedys. Okay, maybe it seems strange, but we didn't have anything equivalent in Canada. The Trudeaus tried but they just couldn't compare. Margaret Trudeau was no Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Pierre Trudeau may have dated Barbra Streisand but both Jack and Robert Kennedy were linked to Marilyn freakin' Monroe. Plus, my grandmother moved to Boston and married an Irish Catholic so I figured worshipping the Kennedys was a legitimate family pastime.
After Camelot does not discuss the days of JFK's presidency or the assassination of him or his brother, Robert. It deals with everything after. And oh boy, is there ever a lot of after.
From the seemingly endless string of badly behaving Kennedy cousins in the 1980's to the heartbreak of losing the heartthrob JFK, Jr., After Camelot is a behind-the-headlines look at the past 40 years of an American (and Canadian) obsession with the East Coast's most famous family.
